Internationally renowned for its vibrant exhibitions and festivals and exceptional shops, the Heard Museum proudly partners with hundreds of American Indian artists, tribal leaders and elders to share stories and traditions. Throughout the year, the Heard celebrates the vitality of Native cultures with guided tours, artist demonstrations, films, guest speakers, festivals, family events and community gatherings.
The Heard Museum was founded in 1929 as a community museum in the then-small town of Phoenix. Since its modest beginnings 80 years ago, the Heard has become an internationally recognized leader in the field of American Indian art and culture while deepening its community-based roots in the Valley.
Since 1996, when its first community museum opened, the Heard Museum has sought opportunities for community collaboration and partnership. The Heard Museum’s community location, Heard Museum North Scottsdale, broadens the museum’s reach and shares its collections and innovative programming with neighbors and visitors.
Heard Museum North Scottsdale features one long-term and one changing exhibition, a museum shop, a sculpture and native plants garden, and The Café at Heard Museum North Scottsdale. The community facility opened in 1996 and moved to its current location at the Summit of Scottsdale in June 2007.
We are a community resource. We are your museum.
