“Expression is the boil-over of self that cannot find a place within the psyche, a reflection and a tool to learn from. The footsteps I take in life find their way with sonar of expression; I beep, and it bounces and returns to me. Using an intuitive understanding of the paths, I keep growing. That path is my pursuit of truth.

Rose B. Simpson, Santa Clara Pueblo, b. 1983, is a 2D and 3D artist, poet, singer and dancer. Daughter of sculptor Roxanne Swentzell and Patrick Simpson, a wood and metal contemporary artist, Rose has experienced art throughout her life through her relationship with her parents, the extended Naranjo family of artists and the larger art community of Northern New Mexico. Many of her works are self-portraits that are both introspective and exteroceptive as she reveals her emotions and her worldview through clay.

Simpson graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe and also attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She has participated as a spray paint artist and vocalist in the Pop Life shows held nationwide, including those in Santa Fe, in Madison, Wisconsin, and at Princeton University. Simpson, Nora Naranjo Morse and Eliza Naranjo Morse were a collaborative art team and the only New Mexico artists chosen to participate in the 2008 SITE Santa Fe Biennial, a global invitational exhibit.
