Speakers Bureau
Experienced guides offer informal lectures, slide-talks and hands-on programs to schools and community groups. Slide presentations last between 30-45 minutes. Speakers can bring touch-its for students to handle. This service is offered free of charge to school groups. A fee is charged for presentations to adult groups.
Free Traveling Panel Exhibits
These three-panel, freestanding exhibits - each with a hands-on materials display stand - are designed for use in libraries or schools and are free. Museum staff members set up and take down the exhibits. Month-long loans are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Suitcase Exhibits
Two cases (one large and one small) are filled with artifacts, photographs and text that can be used to create a museum display in the classroom. Rental fee for the suitcases is $35 per kit for a two-week loan. Rain Kits
A six-kit series based on the exhibit RAIN discusses the importance of rain in the lives of Southwestern Native peoples. The kits follow a cycle - Clouds, Rain, Rainbows, Dry Spell, Animals and Using the Rain - with lessons in math, science, reading and writing based on six oversize art prints. In many cases, original books and stories were developed for the kits.
Kits are available with student materials in English and Spanish. Rental kits provide the teacher manual and all special materials required for the lessons (except items such as water, pencils, paper, dirt, etc.) The rental fee for each kit is $5, or the series of six kits is available for $20. Kits can be rented for a one-month period. |
