The Heard Museum Teacher Institute provides teachers with the resources they need to teach their students about indigenous cultures of the Southwest. The program was created to provide educators with enhanced knowledge and materials.The Institute is open to all teachers.

The Heard Museum Teacher Institute is recognized as a professional development course. Several school districts award 30 hours of in-service credit for course completion.
