The Artists Resource Collection is a cornerstone of the Billie Jane Baguley Library and Archives, currently offering information about nearly 25,000 American Indian artists, performers and writers. Materials include business cards, resumes, exhibition catalogues, correspondence, documented interviews and gallery announcements. Each file also includes an index sheet listing biographical information, exhibitions, awards, prizes and additional published resources about the artist. The files also indicate if the artist is represented in the object collections of the Heard Museum or in the slide collection of the Library and Archives.
Supported by American Indian artists, the Resource Collection is continually expanding with new materials. Names of new artists are added on a regular basis.
Call to American Indian Artists
Artists are the best source for accurate information. To ensure the continued growth and quality of the Resource Collection, artists and their galleries are encouraged to include the Library and Archives on their mailing lists. In addition, slides of artwork and copies of printed material concerning artists or their work are also collected. A questionnaire for American Indian artists is available.
